This Privacy Policy explains how Yolkie ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use the Yolkie mobile app and yolkie.app website.

1. Introduction & Scope

Yolkie is a fertility companion app designed to support people navigating IVF, IUI, FET (frozen embryo transfer), and egg freezing. We know the information you share with us — about your cycle, your medications, your appointments, and how you're feeling — is deeply personal. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

This policy applies to the Yolkie mobile app and the yolkie.app website. By creating an account or using Yolkie, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Fertilitygodsis LLC, the company behind Yolkie, is registered in New Jersey, United States. Because many of our users are located in the European Union, we apply the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as our primary standard, in addition to complying with applicable U.S. state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act) where they apply to you.

2. Who We Are (Data Controller)

The data controller responsible for your personal data is Fertilitygodsis LLC, New Jersey, United States. For privacy-related inquiries, contact us at privacy@yolkie.app.

3. Information We Collect

We do not currently collect payment information directly (Yolkie's free tier requires no payment; if a paid Yolkie+ tier is introduced, this policy will be updated to describe how payment data is handled by our payment processor).

We do not require you to provide fertility or health data to create an account, but the app's core features are built around it, so most users will choose to share it in order to use Yolkie as intended.

4. How We Use Your Data & Legal Basis

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data. We do not currently use your data to train AI models.

5. Special Category (Health) Data

The fertility and health information you enter in Yolkie — medications, protocols, cycle stage, appointments, and journal notes — is "special category data" under Article 9 of the GDPR. We treat it with extra care:

A future research-data-sharing feature (opt-in, for fertility research purposes) is planned but not yet live; if introduced, it will require its own separate, explicit consent and this policy will be updated first.

6. Third-Party Service Providers

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Yolkie. Each acts as a data processor on our behalf and is bound by a data processing agreement.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not share it with advertisers. We only disclose data beyond the providers above if required by law, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or with your explicit consent.

7. Cookies & Tracking

The yolkie.app website may use essential cookies needed for the site to function (e.g. remembering basic preferences), and Cloudflare may set cookies related to security and performance.

The Yolkie mobile app does not use third-party advertising trackers. It may use standard device identifiers strictly for push notifications and basic crash/error reporting.

Where cookies are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent before setting them, and you can withdraw that consent at any time via your browser settings or a cookie preference tool on the site.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your personal data, including fertility and health data, for as long as your account is active and you continue to use Yolkie.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain limited records for legal, tax, or regulatory purposes.

You can request account and data deletion at any time from Settings within the app, or by contacting us at privacy@yolkie.app.

9. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@yolkie.app. We will respond within one month, as required by GDPR.

If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

10. International Data Transfers

Our service providers (including Google Firebase and Cloudflare) may process and store data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognized under GDPR, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), to ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

11. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest (via Firebase's infrastructure), authenticated access controls, and restricted internal access to sensitive data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we work to protect your data using appropriate technical and organizational measures.

12. Children's Privacy

Yolkie is intended for adults navigating fertility treatment and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as Yolkie evolves (for example, when we launch Yolkie+ or the research-sharing feature). We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email, and update the "as of" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of Yolkie after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
